Read my attempt at verbalizing the story.
Monkeylynn in a 1960's (Marvelous Mrs. Maisel reference) hat yells, 'We got the rabbit!' in varous places. She yells, 'We got the rabbit! We got Rabbit Bunkovits for Marshmallow's Bat Mitzvah! He has been booked for 5 years! But we got him!' Mooshy asks, 'We got the rabbit?' Then he says, 'We got the rabbit! That's great! Did you get the bat? You can't have a bat mitzvah without a bat. It's squirrelish tradition.' Smooshy appears and says, 'I know a bat. I can hook it up cheap.'
Smooshy, we appreciate your help, but this can't be like the time with the badgers at the wedding. Or the chickens.' says Monkeylynn. 'What was wrong with the chickens?' asks Smooshy. Monkeylynn replies, 'Well, for one, they were pigeons. And. Uncle Monkey was stuck in that coop for three days!' Smooshy says, 'But we got a really good deal!' Monkeylynn says, 'You know what? I'm just going to call the Bat Guild. They're expensive, but reliable.' Smooshy days, 'When did you get so religious? We're not even practicing squirrels. And bats are a very small part of the bat mitzvah ceremony. Why would you pay full price for a bat? That's just stupid.' Monkeylynn says, 'It's tradition! She is only going to have a bat mitzvah once in her life!' Mooshy jumps back into the conversation and says, 'He's got a point, Monkeylynn. Bat rates are not what they used to be.'
Okay fine.' says Monkeylynn, 'But it better be a real bat. With wings. And nocturnal habits.' Smooshy says, 'Are you doing this or am I doing this? The kid is going to have the best bat mitzvah ever. Relax.' Later, in bed, Monkeylynn is a ball of stress. Mooshy is reading a book ('Squirrel Interrupted') before bed. He says, It will be fine. At least we got the rabbit.' The lights go out. Monkeylynn's eyes are still open. Relax! Hmpf!
